That's why they've teamed up with to bring high-quality arts programming to Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
At the heart of Ingenuity's work is a powerful mission: to ensure that every CPS student, in every grade, in every school, has access to the arts as part of a well-rounded education. Ingenuity collects, analyzes, and reports on arts education data across CPS, and uses these insights to fuel strategy and progress.
Ingenuity's data and research shows that, over the past decade, 96,000 more students now have access to Excelling arts programs. While tremendous progress has been made, opportunities remain: 39% of all 649 CPS schools met the goals and benchmarks in the 2023-24 school year, and 64,000 students still lack access to high-quality arts education.
This is where the Lollapalooza Arts Education Fund (LAEF) steps in. Launched in 2021, the Lollapalooza Arts Education Fund represents a $2.2 million investment in CPS arts education through 2026, channeled through Ingenuity's Creative Schools Fund. LAEF directly targets schools with the least access to arts education, delivering resources where they are needed most.
LAEF has supported an array of enriching opportunities, including arts residencies, field trips, arts supplies and equipment, dedicated arts spaces, and specialized professional development for teachers. A key evolution came in the 2022-23 school year with the introduction of multi-semester grants, which provided extended funding to help schools and arts organizations build robust, long-term partnerships over several school years.
LAEF has been a force in advancing equity, sparking whole-school transformation. These investments cultivate thriving arts communities, drive stronger learning outcomes, and lay the foundation for a more creative, connected future for Chicago’s students and families.
